As part of our ongoing youth development strategy 15 Compton United players and 5 coaches and staff will participa te in the South African Hope Cup youth tournament in conjunction with the FIFA World Cup.
These 12-15 year olds will be playing in the invitational Hope Cup International Youth Tournament in Mamelodi, Gauteng, South Africa this summer!
This will be an AMAZING and LIFE-CHANGING experience as we play soccer, engage in cross-cultural leadership experiences and serve in community service projects in Soweto.

As an aspect of our overall Leadership Development component, we have shaped this opportunity to build into these young leaders. The trip will include:
- playing competitive soccer with their peers from many different nations
- participate in several cross-cultural experiences
- visit the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg and study how to stand up against racism
- participate in a community service project at an orphanage in Soweto--working with children and helping to build a soccer field
- bring new soccer boots to deliver to orphanage children
- serve as a youth correspondent with the USC Annenberg School for Communication and send trip to reports to The South Los Angeles Report
- participate in an African safari
- be mentored by soccer leaders in, life, leadership and multi-cultural skills
- travel to the other side of the globe
- make life-long friends from all over the world

We will be staying in a hotel (2-3 per room) in Memalodi, Gauteng about 37 km from Johannesburg with the additional 30 Hope Cup tournament teams. This will be where all the players from across the world get to know each other.
Approximately $4200 per person
Plane tickets -$2800 per person
Lodging/Food/Trans -$1400 per person
- Giving will go into a general trip fund to be divided equally by all the players.
